Operation Dost‘: PM Announced India Stands Firmly with Turkey

PM Modi announced that India stands firmly with the people of Turkey, which suffered a massive loss of life, health, wealth, and property when this 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit the region, also informed that Indian rescue and aid teams sent there are working tirelessly “day and night” as part of ‘Operation Dost‘.

Earthquake Death Toll in Turkey & Syria

As the earthquake death toll in Turkey and Syria crossed 25,000, the rescue operations continued on the sixth straight day, with all the teams sent from various countries, including India, working on a war footing to help to save earthquake survivors and treat the injured people of Turkey.

“I am really grateful to Indian relief forces because they are the first group that arrived…It was the first time that I met a group of people from India and I can’t explain my feelings. I call them ‘dost’ but I see them like brothers and sisters,” a Turkish national named Furkaan told the news agency ANI.

Indian Army Hospital in Earthquake hit Hatay, Turkey’s

A temporary hospital was set up by the Indian Army in Turkey’s earthquake hit Hatay province, and it became functional on Thursday with the most important surgical and emergency wards. On Friday, another camp hospital in Iskenderun treated more than 100 rescued people. Meanwhile, 840 Plus cartons of medicines, protection safety tools, and diagnostics with a weight of near to 6.2 tons were also sent by Indian Govt to Turkey and Syria.

Another 99-member team at Hatay’s hospital camps includes 13 doctors, ortho doctors and general surgeons, oral maxillofacial surgeons, community medicine specialists, logistic officers, and three medical officers available in the camps.

An Indian Army officer also informed us that a more than 3-hour long surgery was conducted on a patient at the camp, who is currently stable. “We also had people who were pulled out of the rubble after three days.” We stabilized them and are providing all help required. “We performed more than 3 hours of difficult surgery in the early morning at 3.30 a.m. the day before, the patient is stable and was referred to tertiary care today in Adana,” he said.

“We received 350 patients yesterday and 200 patients since this morning (Saturday),” Lt Col Adarsh added. Know all about the earthquake and the reason behind it.
